Job Summary

The Bilingual (Spanish/English) Health Educator is responsible for conducting community outreach and facilitating the Maurer Foundation’s Breast Health Education program to audiences ranging from high school/college students to community & corporate groups. This is a full-time position with variable hours in a hybrid work setting, which includes the office, work from home, and time spent in the field in locations across Long Island and occasionally in Queens.

Accountability

The Bilingual Health Educator reports to the Program Director.

Responsibilities  

  • Conduct breast health programs in high schools and colleges
  • Conduct community and corporate programs as needed
  • Attend health fairs and disseminate appropriate information/materials
  • Assist in developing and implementing an outreach strategy to reach new community-based partners with an emphasis on underserved communities
  • Nurture new and old relationships with collaborative partners
  • Maintain accurate data and provide reports on program presentations and outreach efforts
  • Stay updated on new research and trends related to breast health/breast cancer
  • Assist in refining/updating program curriculum and educational materials
  • Work with team to develop content for social media, marketing, and the website
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Oral and written proficiency in both languages is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in health or education related field
  • Comfortable speaking in front of a classroom a must
  • The ability to lift and load luggage weighing up to 50 pounds and a height of 3-4 feet into and out of vehicle
  • Must have driver’s license and use of a working vehicle as travel across Long Island and occasionally to Queens are required
  • Must have the ability to work typical high school hours
