On October 8th, approximately 300 supporters attended The Maurer Foundation’s annual Pink Diamond Gala at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY. The Maurer Foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary at the event, raising nearly $250,000 to support its mission of providing breast health education on Long Island and throughout the greater New York area.
Attendees enjoyed an evening of fine dining, dancing, and live music by True Blue, sponsored by Sparkling Pointe Winery and Vineyard of Southold, NY. This year’s special honorees and event sponsors were Frank and Rita Castagna of Castagna Realty Co., community and philanthropic leaders that have worked tirelessly to improve health and quality of life on Long Island.
The proceeds raised will help The Maurer Foundation provide its breast health education programs, which are presented in schools, colleges, community groups, and businesses. These educational programs share life-saving information about breast cancer prevention and early detection, including how to conduct a breast self-exam and how to reduce personal risk factors for breast cancer.
The Maurer Foundation would like to recognize the tremendous support of the gala’s Honorary Co-Chairs, Cynthia Rosicki (the event’s emcee) and Russ Matthews from the Albanese Organization (a Platinum sponsor), as well as the Stern and Graham families, Platinum sponsors of the Pink Diamond Gala.
“We’re so grateful and inspired by the generous support shown at this year’s Pink Diamond Gala,” said The Maurer Foundation’s Board Chairman Andrew Corrado. “The funds raised will be used for our continued outreach for breast health education as well as our focus on reaching lower socio-economic areas that may not have easy access to health education. More lives will be saved because of our combined efforts to bring breast health education and empowerment to communities throughout Long Island.”
