Our Supporters Raise Over $315,000 at the 27th Annual Golf Classic

There was excitement in the air as 200 golfers hit the links for our 27th Annual Golf Classic, raising over $315,000 for breast health education. Held on May 10th, supporters teed off at two of Long Island’s most prestigious courses, Old Westbury Country Club and Meadow Brook Club.

The day featured contests in a variety of categories. Proud team winners at Old Westbury were… Alliant Insurance Services – 1st Low Gross Team (score 71); D&B Engineers and Architect – 1st Low Net Team (score 57); Jack Maerki won the Men’s Longest Drive; Meg Cobb led the ladies with an Individual Low Gross (score 90) and Longest Drive honors; Christine Boccia took the Individual Low Net (score 69). Closest to the Pin honors went to Joseph Dascoli for Men’s and Maureen Tully for Ladies’.

At Meadow Brook, proud team winners were… Hercules – 1st Low Gross Team (score 65), Arch Surety/Arch Insurance – 1st Low Net Team (score 50). Dr. Virginia Maurer led the women with an Individual Low Gross (score 106) and Tammy Fortune came in with the Individual Low Net (score 72). Longest Drive honors, men and women, went respectively to Brock Kovach and Nancy Schnee and the Closest to the Pin went to Dave Ofenloch.

One of the day’s highlights was the opportunity to test your golf skills against two renowned former pro athletes at our Beat the Pro contest, featuring Ottis Anderson, former NY Giant at Old Westbury and Greg Buttle, former NY Jet at Meadow Brook.

The day culminated with a fabulous dinner at Old Westbury Country Club, where the mood was festive, the food and drink plentiful and the views spectacular. Guests generously purchased tickets for the opportunity to win raffle baskets and bid on a variety of silent auction prizes. Our 50/50 raffle winners shared over $15,000.

“Every ticket purchased, every raffle bought, every donation provided will make a lasting impact that will be felt in every classroom with every student who will receive our breast health programs because of the generosity of our supporters,” stated Susan Samaroo, the Foundation’s Executive Director.
