It seems fitting to thank Pink Aid during Breast Cancer Awareness month for supporting our breast health education programs for the second year in a row! Thanks to the generosity of Pink Aid Long Island, our Breast Health programs will continue to expand to uninsured and underinsured lower socio-economic and bilingual communities in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Sharing life-saving information about breast cancer prevention and early detection with underserved communities has been a growing focus of the Maurer Foundation. In 2015, we surpassed our goal of reaching 1,746 people in these high needs communities on Long Island and we expect to surpass our goal this year as well.
Thanks to the financial support from Pink Aid’s grant, our educators have offered 80 breast health programs in high-needs high schools, including bilingual presentations. The Maurer Foundation has also been able to establish partnerships with community organizations including Healthy Sundays, New Hour for Women and Children and the Hispanic Brotherhood.
A very sincere thank you to Pink Aid for another year of support in helping us deliver the powerful message of our breast health education program to many more women and men!
